PAk282. Built 5200 years ago, and during the Neolithic period tail end of the Stone Age, the Newgrange megalithic tomb was constructed with alternating layers of dirt and rock and infused with the mystical curiosities. This earthen temple is 600 years older than Egypt’s Giza Pyramids and 1000 years older than Stonehenge. The building of Newgrange is a remarkable architectural feat. And some say it’s within one of the most popular flight paths for UFOs. With a mesmerizing entrance stone, the Newgrange passage and tomb are adorned with beautiful circles, spirals, and radials. While the purpose of this ancient art appears to be decorative, many spiritually-minded scholars believe these etchings to be energy-creating emblems or metaphoric icons that relate to the sun, moon, and stars. Healers and empaths say that Newgrange has an etheric quality to it, with remnants of energetic bodies no longer living in this physical reality. They believe the site to be a reservoir of healing energy for all walks of life. Residents of the nearby Laytown say that unusual objects have been crisscrossing the night sky for as long as they can remember. More recently, unexplained crop circles have been appearing in neighboring areas. It seems the Gods are restless and trying to communicate. Who Built Newgrange? Gaelic mythology tells us that the original Irish race the “Milesians” traveled to Ireland from Hispania. Hispania included Andorra, Portugal and Spain, and the British Crown colony of Gibraltar. When they arrived, they set their sites on defeating the powerful Tuatha Dé Danann. In the final throws of battle, the two warring parties agreed to divide Ireland between them. The Milesians took the physical world atop the earth’s crust, and the Tuatha Dé Danann were awarded the worlds and realms below, also known as, “The Underworld.” As time unfolded, the Tuath Dé became the worshiped, pagan gods of Ireland, still adored today. This suggests that the Tuatha Dé were the builders of Newgrange. They were known to be inventive farmers and passionate astronomers. They built a mound that’s 93 yards in diameter, 15 yards high, and covering an area of about 1 acre. Newgrange houses a passage that measures 21 yards which leads into a chamber consisting of 3 alcoves, all of which are perfectly aligned with the rising sun. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is surrounded by 97 massive kerbstones, some of which are decorated with enchanted engravings. Some say that the Newgrange stones can be used for healing and connecting with other realms. Newgrange is part of a massive collection of sites that includes the Knowth largest and Dowth monuments, along with 35 smaller mounds. Visitors can access this ancient multiplex, known as “Brug na Bóinne,” via the visitor’s center of the same name. What was the purpose of the megalithic tombs at Newgrange? Archeologists classify Newgrange Ireland as a tomb with passageways. Meanwhile, many intuitives, spiritual seekers, and researchers believe the site to be an ancient temple, one filled with mystery. Not only was Newgrange of ceremonial importance, but it was also a portal built with energetic and astrological principles in mind. The site was a place a worship, prominence, and authority, akin to a mother church or cathedral. It accommodated many influential political and religious leaders would seek out light, magic, and blessings, and declare the spot for their final resting place. Excavations of the site have revealed remnants of burned, human bones, indicating that at least a few human beings were first cremated and then buried here. While burial may have been one of the general uses of the site, it seems more likely that the predominant activity at Newgrange was the practicing of an astronomy-based faith. Some maintain that the Newgrange community were members of a cult focused on the deceased. Megalithic passage tomb at Newgrange Winter Solstice and Newgrange The architects of Newgrange understood astronomy, as demonstrated during the Winter Solstice. This is when the rising sun illuminates the temple’s long passageway, into the primary, central chamber. The top box or roof box that rests above the main entrance is the lens through which the sun pours. Also notable is the presence of the Aurora Borealis, which hovered above Newgrange on Dec. 20th, 2015. Whether or not you’re a believer, most visitors to Newgrange beliefe that the site provides a divine connection to pagan royalty and deities. Even the original monks who farmed the grange in its early history believed the site’s mythologies to be equal in truth and power to the tenets of their Christian faith. If you’d like to tour Newgrange, you can visit the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre and hop on a 24-person shuttle bus. To experience the site’s Winter Solstice phenomenon, you can enter their annual lottery. Every year between December 18 and 23rd, 12 people are permitted to enter the temple’s holy chambers. Every year, local school children draw the 50 lucky names by hand. A reserve list is also drawn. Visitors who are not on these lists are welcome to stand outside the monument during the immersion of the Winter Solstice morning light. You can enter the lottery by filling out an application on the Brú na Bóinne website. Over 30,000 people applied in 2019. These magic seats are not transferable for any reason. Lugh The Warrior-King of Newgrange It appears that the spiritual father of Newgrange’s otherworld was Lugh Lámhfada, or “Lugh of the Long Arm,” named as such for his unmatched fighting abilities and spearing skills. Lugh, often equated with the Roman God, Mercury, was a member of the Tuatha Dé Danann, sometimes referred to as their most potent ruler and savior. Legend has it that Lugh and his mystical family are buried at Newgrange. Dagda Mór and his three sons are also believed to be entombed at this holy temple. Newgrange has always been a special place. Even if you don’t subscribe to its mythology, historical records show that Newgrange once had endless supplies of ale and several abundant fruit trees. It was most likely a haven for regular community events, feasts, and celebrations. To connect with your ancient allies and some of the most potent pagan deities, call on Lugh and the Tuatha Dé at Newgrange. watch 0140 The Sandman Will Keep You Awake - The Loop "Why have you come here? To make peace? You long for battle. You crave it. You're nothing but a boy trying to prove himself a man." ―Laufey to Thor[src] Laufey was the king of the Frost Giants of Jotunheim, and the biological father of Loki. While attempting to start a second war between Jotunheim and Asgard, Laufey was approached by Loki who offered him a way of murdering the Asgardian King Odin, only for Loki to betray and kill Laufey before attempting to wipe out all of the Frost Giants. Biography Asgard-Jotunheim War Defeated by Odin "From around the cold and darkness came the Frost Giants. Threatening to plunge the mortal world into a new ice age. But humanity would not face this threat alone. Our armies drove the Frost Giants back into the heart of their own world. The cost was great. In the end, their King fell. And the source of their power was taken from them." ―Odin[src] Laufey during the war against Asgard. Laufey was the leader of the Frost Giants. Seeking to give his people a new home world, he led his army to Earth where they invaded a small Viking village and used the Casket of Ancient Winters to slaughter the innocent lives there. This attack put Laufey's army in conflict against the Asgardians and their King Odin[4], with the help of the Eternals[5], beginning a war. Laufey fought in the front lines of the war, killing the Asgardian Soldiers by freezing them. Laufey is eventually defeated by Odin The final battle of the war took place on Jotunheim. Laufey and Odin engaged in a one-on-one battle until the Asgardian King came out victorious and Laufey was forced to surrender. To ensure such a terrible war did not occur again, Laufey and Odin agreed to a peace treaty, where the Frost Giants' power source, the Casket of Ancient Winters, would be taken from them and neither race would attack the other and they could both live peacefully for centuries to come. As the Asgardians left the battle, Odin entered a temple to collect the Casket of Ancient Winters. He also found a child who was Laufey's undersized son, left there to die, so he took him as his own.[4] Attack on Jotunheim Confrontation with Thor Laufey negotiates with and mocks Thor "The House of Odin is full of traitors.""Do not dishonor my father's name with your lies!""Your father is a murderer and a thief!" ―Laufey and Thor[src] Years later, Thor, Loki, Sif and the Warriors Three went to Jotunheim to look for an explanation for the Frost Giants' intrusion that they suffered. However, they received an unwelcomed visit, when Thor was insulted by one soldier, he attacked the Frost Giant and Laufey ordered his army to attack the Asgardians, even sending a Frost Beast to kill the Warriors Three and Sif. Laufey declares a new war against Odin After a long battle, Thor killed the Frost Beast, but in the chaos Laufey gathered his entire army to overpower the Asgardians. Before they could kill the invaders, Odin arrived on Sleipnir to break up the skirmish. Laufey spoke to his former enemy, who attempted to reinstate the peace treaty, but Laufey assured him that Thor had caused a war. Laufey attempted to kill the Asgardian King by stabbing him with an ice knife, but Odin escaped with his fellow Asgardians.[4] Loki's Offer Laufey makes a new deal with Loki "Kill him.""After all I've done for you?""So you're the one who showed us the way into Asgard." ―Laufey and Loki[src] Later, Loki paid a visit to him in Jotunheim, hinting that he was the one who allowed the Frost Giants into Asgard in the first place. He offered a deal with Laufey, in which he told Laufey to go to Asgard to kill Odin. That way, Loki would be able to take the throne.[4] Betrayal and Death Laufey finally arrives on Asgard "It's said you can still see and hear what transpires around you, even in this state. I hope it's true, so that you may know your death came by the hand of Laufey.""And your death came by the son of Odin." ―Laufey and Loki[src] Loki allowed Laufey into Asgard, having froze the gatekeeper Heimdall, before leading the Frost Giants to Odin, but Loki stayed behind. Laufey made his way to the unconscious Odin, knocking out Queen Frigga along his way and prepared to kill his enemy. Laufey is shot in the back and killed by Loki As Laufey stood over Odin, he mocked him before building a knife out of ice to kill him. In a twist of fate, Loki betrayed Laufey by using Gungnir's energy beam to disintegrate him, taking credit for killing the seemingly invading Frost Giant warriors. This act made Loki look like a hero in front of his adoptive mother as part of his plan to completely destroy Jotunheim and the Frost Giant race as well as usurp the throne of Asgard.[4] Personality "You should listen to his counsel. You know not what your actions would unleash. But I do. Go now, while I still allow it." ―Laufey to Thor[src] Laufey is a conniving individual, leading an attack into Odin's Vault after a thousand year truce only to blame it purely on Thor for retaliating. He felt ashamed to have a small offspring and abandoned his baby for death. Despite signing a peace treaty, Laufey never left his ambition to conquer using the Casket of Ancient Winters. He was helped by Loki to sneak into Asgard and kill Odin, but his ambition clouded his judgement as Loki turned on Laufey and killed him. Powers and Abilities Powers Frost Giant Physiology As a Frost Giant, Laufey possessed all of the various superhuman attributes common among his people, including superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility, stamina, reflexes, healing, and was extremely long-lived, as well as the ability to manipulate ice. All Frost Giant's skins are blue, which goes well with their icy planet called Jotunheim. Superhuman Strength Like all Frost Giants, Laufey possessed great superhuman strength, fighting a whole war using his strength and leadership. He also easily pushed away Frigga, an Asgardian. Superhuman Durability Laufey's body was extremely durable, not unlike all other Frost Giants. He withstood attacks by Odin and Thor. He was struck by Thor using Mjølnir and flew into the wall from the hit, but he was only temporarily down. Yet this durability was no match for Gungnir as he was obliterated instantly. Superhuman Speed Laufey could run and move at great superhuman speed, running into battle towards Thor when his party invaded Jotunheim. Superhuman Agility Laufey naturally possessed far greater agility than humans. This allowed him to battle Thor after his first hit. Superhuman Stamina Laufey's Frost Giant physiology allowed him to endure stressful physical activity, fighting a tiresome war and not stopping to relentlessly pursue the Asgardians who invaded Jotunheim. Superhuman Reflexes Laufey could react and dodge objects traveling at high speeds, however, he was unable to dodge Loki's fatal blow as he had his back turned. Regenerative Healing Factor Despite his body's resistance, Laufey could still be injured like any other Frost Giant. However, he was able to rapidly heal from injuries and recover quickly, such as when he was thrown into a wall by Thor. Longevity Laufey, like all other Frost Giants, were extremely long-lived beings, he aged at a very slow pace, being able to live for thousands of years. He did not age noticeably at all from 965 to 2010. Ice Manipulation Laufey creates his weapons out of the ice As a Frost Giant, Laufey possessed the ability to create and manipulate ice. The ice could be formed into practically anything he thought of, being able to form a wide variety of weapons and tools made of ice. He had forged an ice dagger in order to try to kill Odin while he was in Odinsleep. Cold Immunity Due to his Frost Giant physiology, Laufey was immune to cold, being able to live on Jotunheim, a realm that was cold enough to kill any normal human being, for thousands of years. Abilities Master Combatant Laufey was a highly skilled and formidable hand-to-hand combatant, being able to hold his own against Odin and Thor before being slowly overpowered. He had also easily beat Frigga in a fight as she was just pushed away. Expert Tactician Laufey led the Frost Giants into battle during the Asgard-Jotunheim War. He also planned the Infiltration into Odin's Vault and instigated Thor into a battle which got Thor banished. Equipment Weapons Casket of Ancient Winters Laufey used the Casket of Ancient Winters as his chief weapon when he attempted to conquer Earth during the Asgard-Jotunheim War. When opened, the Casket could unleash infinite, blizzard-like cold that would freeze anything in its path. After Odin defeated Laufey in the Battle of Jotunheim, he took the Casket from Jotunheim and stored it in his vault in Asgard.
